About The Author

Graham Dixon Graham Dixon has written and produced a range of learning materials and personally lectures on the 10 day Domestic Appliance Service Engineer Training Course. Graham is an unrivalled authority in the servicing, installation and repair of major domestic appliances.

Other aspects of his work include product assessment, fault consultancy and systems analysis to board level in relation to the domestic appliance sector. He was also a training provider for the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) which was then part of the Coutts Consulting Group. This resulted in the training of service personnel leaving all three armed forces wishing to embark on a career in the domestic appliance service sector.

Recent work being technical expert on a major Harper Collins book project which involved the production of editorial material, technical assistance, product procurement and photographic work.

As a result of his experience he is in constant contact with the industry at all levels. In addition to his books he has produced specialised technical training and information packages the first of which was an electrical foundation package on "Safer Working Practices". This was accepted by the Domestic Appliance Service Association as "Best Practice" for its members and gained widespread acceptance throughout the industry. In 1992 it was commended by the European year of Health and Safety and as such can display the European Logo. It also influenced the safety aspects of the new NVQ standards. In 2002 the HSE launched safety guidance note No 35 which is essentially identical to the Dixon Training 'Safer Working Practices' package produced some 10 years previously.

Graham has also been involved as a 'Technical Expert' on both the EESTC Technical Certificate Project and the current review of the E&ES Occupational Standards.

His current aims are to pass on his knowledge to those wishing to seek employment in the domestic appliance service industry and to assist in the expansion of the recycling of domestic appliances.
